2009 – Mike Ashely had just renamed St James Park to the 'Sports Direct Arena', angering many Newcastle fans. They were currently boycotting the NUFC shop, and merchandise sales were down 60%. It was our job to get people to buy the new season's membership, and to gain trust in the club again.
We developed a membership kit that rewarded and showcased when a fan had been to a certain number of games, turning their support into a badge of honour. We also made sure that every time a membership was sold, all the proceeds would go directly into the NUFC academy to help grow new talent.
